Shaykh Sohail Hanif

Shaykh Sohail Hanif is one of our best-loved scholars, whose kindness, sincerity, good humour and warmth resonate through all his teachings. Having spent most of his life in England and the Middle East, he is well-equipped with deep religious knowledge as well as sensitivity towards the modern context. He brings to his lessons a profound love for Allah and His Messenger, peace be upon him, and is a very patient instructor—no question is trivial, and every student is valued.

Shaykh Sohail has studied with numerous scholars in Amman, Jordan. He has studied Hanafi fiqh with Shaykh Faraz Rabbani, Dr. Salah Abul Haj, Shaykh Ashraf Muneeb, and Shaykh Ahmad al Jammal and Usul al-fiqh with Shaykh Ashraf. He studied introductory hadith sciences with Shaykh Muhammad al-Ya'qubi and is continuing his studies with Shaykh Hamza al Bakri. He studied aqida with Shaykh Muhammad al Ta'wil of the Qarawiyyin, Shaykh 'Isa Rabih, and Shaykh 'Abdul Qadir al 'Ani, a reputed 'Iraqi scholar and one of the authors of the renowned Kuwaiti Fiqh Encyclopedia.

For Arabic grammar, Shaykh Sohail studied with Shaykh 'Abdul Hayy al 'Imrawi of the Qarawiyyin and Shaykh 'Ali Hani, with whom he also studied tafsir.

Shaykh Sohail taught Arabic grammar at the Qasid Institute of Arabic language in Amman for five years, where he was also the head of the sciences section of the Classical Arabic department.

He continues his studies in Amman where he lives with his wife.
