“In marriage, you're either pleasing Allah 24/7, or displeasing Allah 24/7.”
—Ustadha Hedaya Hartford
Maintaining a healthy, nurturing marriage can be challenging in our day and age. We live in a world of instant fixes, yet marriage is a life-long commitment that takes effort and patience. Tranquil marriages are becoming increasingly rare in our communities, leading us to ask ourselves - what went wrong? But more importantly, we need to ask - how can we make this better?
Marriage as Allah Most High intended is a means for earning His Pleasure, and one of the delights of this world.
“Among His signs is that He created for you spouses of your own kind in order that you may repose to them in tranquility and He instilled in your hearts love and affection for one another; verily, in these are signs for those who reflect (on the nature of the reality).”
(Ar-Rum: 21)
Despite the beauty of an Islamic marriage, many Muslim couples are facing enormous difficulties. To address this growing societal concern SP launched a revolutionary course “The Successful Islamic Marriage” last year with Ustadha Hedaya Hartford. In this course she teaches what every Muslim needs to know about marriage.
Whether you are married or not, single or divorced, the topics she covers bring you self-awareness, helping you to correct bad habits. This will in turn improve your interactions with your spouse, in-laws, and children, enhancing your existing relationships.
If you are not married, studying with Ustadha Hedaya will teach you what to look for in a spouse, helping you start off your marriage on the right foot. You will also gain insight into what kind of person you need to become in order to sustain a happy marriage. Best of all, by actively taking steps to improve your character, you will earn the pleasure of Allah Most High, inshaAllah.
The Successful Islamic Marriage will equip you with the skills necessary to initiate and sustain a marital life which is pleasing to Allah Most High.
The lesson overview includes:
- Basic fiqh of marriage
- Basic fiqh of divorce
- Choosing a spouse
- Types of communication
- Triggers and dramas
- In-laws
- Staying married
