Allah Most High tells us in the Qur’an: “And recite the Qur'an in slow, rhythmic tones” (73: 4). Throughout the centuries, the science of tajweed has been the means by which one could fulfill this Quranic injunction and recite the Book of Allah in the most proper and beautiful manner.
Each of us must learn the basic rules of pronunciation so that our recitation of at least the Fatiha is correct. Beyond this is an emphasized sunna, but leaving this sunna also entails leaving the best way of reciting the Qur'an.
In Introductory Tajweed: A Hands-On Guide to Quranic Recitation, you will be able to both perfect your recitation of the Fatiha as well as beautify your recitation through applying tajweed rules to the 30th chapter of the Qur'an.
The course is a live course supplemented by a few reference-type recording. The live lessons are geared towards providing you with an opportunity to practice you recitation along with your fellow students.
While a set number of tajweed rules will be made available to you in 5 recorded lessons, you will focus on the practical application of these rules based on your particular strengths and weaknesses rather than the theory itself. A key feature of this course is one-on-one attention from the instructor, with recommendations on which rules you personally need to review and practice further.
By the end of this course, you will have listened to and read the complete 30th part of the Qur'an and will be able to articulate the words of this chapter correctly. You will not only improve your recitation of the Fatiha, but also acquire fluency and proficiency reading the most recited chapter of the Qur'an.
At the end of the day, learning tajweed rules only strengthens your relationship with the Book of Allah Most High.
