It is related that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This world is the prison of the believer and the paradise of the disbeliever". He also said: "Verily, truthfulness is righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise" (Sahih Muslim). The ability to read and understand these hadiths directly in Arabic is a goal most of us wish to attain so that we can more fully experience the words of our Beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. By the end of this hands-on course, you will insha'Allah be able to unravel both the grammar and vocabulary behind such hadiths on your own.
In Intermediate Arabic - Part 2 , apply the Arabic skills you have developed in your introductory coursework to actual hadiths from Imam Nawawi's Riyadh as-Saliheen. During each week's live session, Ustadh Farid will guide you through analyzing two to three hadiths. Grammatical theories demonstrated in the hadiths will be reviewed and explained in further detail. For each hadith, you will analyze each word through identifying its type and its root, and then looking it up in the dictionary. You will then perform a sentence-level breakdown.
After each lesson, you will then perform sentence-level breakdowns of five hadiths on your own. Module exams will take this practice further through asking you questions that identify "common mistakes" in order to ensure that you have full understanding of the theory application.
By the end of the course, you will have read, analyzed, and understood a hundred verb-sentence hadiths. This intensive study will enable you to easily apply theory as well as read and understand other hadiths of the same level. You will have had vast exposure to Arabic vocabulary and eloquence, and be able to use a dictionary to decipher the meaning and context of other unfamiliar words.
This course is perfect for anyone who wants to take their study of Arabic to the next level for the eventual goal of reading and comprehending the Quran, Sunnah, and classical Islamic texts in their original Arabic.
